Comments on: Writing to please God.. https://www.nicolebeholds.com/5526-2/ Fri, 26 Aug 2016 23:52:28 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: Deanna Wiseburn https://www.nicolebeholds.com/5526-2/#comment-276 Fri, 26 Aug 2016 23:52:28 +0000 http://www.nicolebeholds.com/?p=5526#comment-276 This is really good and the struggle is real. However the thing is that if you go step by step with God He can even guide you through the social media maze. For a long time I was obsessed and wasted many hours on social media. Since then God shows me that it steals from me and leaves me empty. Now I focus mostly on Instagram and Pinterest, they don’t require as much time to be social. Only recently breaking a fast on Facebook which I had done away with for so many months. It’s hard not to get sucked in again. But God shows me how much I can handle. Honestly right now I post through schedulers (Buffer and Hootsuite) and spend a lot less time actually interacting with people. I instead work on reaching out more to those who get my emails as for social…but I am just starting back to blogging. If you just write what God gives you it will be good enough.

All the time! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement : )

I think once we realize that often our writing produces the greatest change in our own hearts, it frees us to follow our calling. You should come share on Fresh Market Friday linkup today…it’s all about writing! Crystal~

I am visiting you from Holly’s site. i love how you share some of the traps of blogging. It is easy to get distracted from what our true purpose is. It’s about glorifying God. I know some of the things are necessary but I want to focus on Christ. He keeps me grounded and helps me focus on what’s important. If I’m not sure, I ask Him for help. There is definitely frustration at times. However, it has been such a blessing to come across and meet all the lovely women of God in the various linkups over the past year and half. The encouragement helps us to press forward. I’m sure you will do great as you seek God’s guidance. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and may God richly bless you and yours!

You are a beautiful writer and I’m with you. We are here to please Him, not others and I have to remind myself of that often, especially when others are publishing books and I’m here just blogging and sometimes to an audience of one – my Lord who sees and knows my heart.

Hey Sandra, so true! It also forces me to take perspective and really wonder and pray for other people– for what reasons have I offended? Or is it a “them-” issue? …and if it is, what can I do to help?

thanks for visiting 🙂

Blogging has a way of yanking my people pleasing self up by the boot straps because I simply cannot please everyone, nor do I want to. Now when I get a negative comment or someone rips into me because of something I said or did, I try to remember to use the experience as a stepping stone out of the people pleasing pit.

Wonder which role model gave my daughter the courage/ability to march to her own beat and not be just who society thinks she should be. Big loves my friend!
